Running has always been in my blood. Since the days in grade school when the 1.4 mile run from my house to the one stop light in Raymond, Iowa seemed like an unfathomable distance, I have been pushing and testing my limits. A distinctly slow Junior Varsity track and country runner throughout high school, I got the not so bright idea to follow in my older brother’s footsteps and attempt marathons in college. While moderately successful, I knew there was no way I could begin to match his sub-three hour finishes. So, if I could not go faster, I thought, why not go farther?
